Studio Policies

Joe Seltzer Studio Policies: 2024-25

 

Mission

 

To support motivated individuals in exploring music and providing knowledge for a lifetime of enjoyment. By booking a lesson, you accept these terms.

 

New Students
To start lessons, new students must complete “Great Rhythm” through Section 5 or perform at 120 bpm. 

​

Recording
Lessons may be recorded for promotional or educational use. If you prefer not to be recorded, please notify me in writing.

 

Payment
Subscribe to weekly or monthly payments via. I use PayPal and Stripe for secure, automatic billing.

 

Scheduling

Book lessons directly with me at 575-496-9185. I will confirm lesson times via message.

 

Attendance
Bring all required materials (sticks, books, headphones, pencil, notebook). Consistent preparation is crucial. Students who come unprepared may be dismissed after 12 months, with a possibility for reevaluation.

 

Cancellations

- My Cancellation: If I cancel, you can reschedule within 60 days or receive a refund. For planned absences, I provide a substitute and advanced notice. Subs are industry pros who will maintain valuable consistency to you while helping me evaluate my own teaching and such sessions are non-refunadable.


- Your Cancellation:
  - Same Day: Charged but can reschedule within 30 days.
  - >24 Hours: Reschedule within 60 days.
  - No Call/No Show:

-No Call/No Show:

A missed lesson is considered a “No Call/No Show” if any of the following occur:
- You don’t call or text to cancel.
- You call/text within 12 hours of the lesson time.
- You don’t show up at your scheduled lesson time.

Consequences:
- First & Second “No Call/No Show”: You are allowed 2 incidents in a 12-month period.
- Third “No Call/No Show”: Results in immediate dismissal from the studio.
- Impact: Any remaining lessons for the month and any potential make-up lessons will be forfeited without refund.

 

Note: Please communicate any cancellations as early as possible to avoid this situation.

Special Dates
I don’t teach on New Year’s Day, April 6, July 4, July 7, October 22, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve.

 

Make-up Lessons
Available based on other students' cancellations or via Zoom. Times are first-come, first-served, and advance notice helps.

 

Recital/Showcase
Twice a year, I host recitals. There are no lessons the week following a recital.

Materials
Required: sticks, isolation headphones, books, something to write with, practice pad, drum set, and any books or digital downloads we may require. Recommended: iPad/IOS device. Find most materials at Hubbard's Music.

Rescheduling & Refunds
- Rescheduling: Confirm a new time within 7 days of the missed lesson, within 30 days.
- Refunds: Only for my emergency cancellations.

 

Payments
Auto-billing via [my website](http://www.joeseltzer.com/lessons) is required. Rates are fixed for your enrollment period but may increase for new students each year.

 

Discontinuing Service
Give 2 weeks' notice by phone and text/email to stop lessons. You can stop auto-billing anytime but follow PayPal's billing policies.
